Spartans Karate dominates KSA Open Championships in Durban

In a display of unwavering determination and skill, Spartans Karate dojo was represented by 7 athletes and managed to win 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals on July 15 in Durban at the Karate SA Championships.

Spartans Karate demonstrated their prowess and determination at the Karate SA (KSA) Open Championships on July 15 in Durban.

Despite facing fierce competition from the KwaZulu-Natal province, the dojo’s seven karateka displayed exceptional skill, clinching an impressive total of two gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

From the Thrive Wellness Hub located in the bustling Xavier Boulevard Shopping Centre, Spartans Karate has been honing its warriors to compete at the highest level. The journey to the championship was gruelling, with countless hours of training made by the athletes and their dedicated instructors.

Looking beyond national success, the dojo has set its sights on a grander ambition – producing a World Karate Federation (WKF) medalist. With the drive and determination demonstrated at the KSA Open Championships, Spartans Karate believes they belong on the global stage and are ready to prove themselves at international competitions.

The commitment and excellence of Spartans karateka was also recognised at the prestigious Protea Awards.

Four members of the dojo were proudly capped as Proteas. Additionally, one exceptional athlete was awarded his national colours, further solidifying the dojo’s reputation as a breeding ground for talent.
