Annual Gandhi Walk postponed

The largest and oldest Gandhi charity fun walk in the country will not be taking place as previously scheduled for April 5, from the iconic Gandhi Hall in Lenasia, south of Joburg.

The Gandhi Walk Committee gives notice it will be postponing the 35th Annual Gandhi Walk in Lenasia.

The largest and oldest Gandhi charity fun walk in the country will not be taking place as previously scheduled for Sunday, April 5, from the iconic Gandhi Hall in Lenasia, south of Joburg.

Following a meeting by the organising committee and in consultation with various parties and stakeholders, the committee stated that it takes the health, safety and well-being of its walkers, volunteers, partners, sponsors, members and the community-at-large very seriously.

“We regret to inform you that due to the most recent developments of the Covid-19 virus and the threat of possible exposure to the community, especially with large public gatherings, we have taken the most responsible decision to postpone the hosting of the 35th Gandhi Walk planned for April 5, in Lenasia in spite of our intensified actions on precautionary control measures for the event,” said the Gandhi Walk Committee.

Any person/s in possession of walker tickets/numbers are requested to hold on to them until further notice.

The Gandhi Walk Committee apologises for any inconvenience caused and would like to reassure walkers of its commitment to host the 35th Annual Gandhi Walk when appropriate to do so followed by an announcement of the new date.

The Gandhi Walk Committee wishes to express gratitude to many for their intentions to support, sponsor, partner and/or participate in this annual charity fun walk.
