Sports4Life welcomes new canoeists

Sports4Life is inviting anyone interested to come and join them.

The Sports4Life team was very excited to welcome six new budding canoeists on February 22.

“Johannesburg Canoe Club at Wemmer Pan is our coaching venue and it was awesome to see all six of the folk master the basics,” said Pete Russouw from Sports4Life.

They then went on to complete the 2km lap of Wemmer Pan in two two-seater and one three-seater canoe.

Later in the day they enjoyed another session closer to the Canoe Club.

“Canoeing is an amazing sport and works all of the key muscle groups with zero impact,” said Russouw.

“We start teaching scholars to paddle from six years of age.”

Canoe sprinting is an Olympic discipline and there are marathon world championship titles.

“South Africa has been very successful over the years at holding many world titles.”

Sports4Life encourages parents in the South of Johannesburg to contact them and discuss getting involved in this sport.

Individuals and groups can contact them to book intro sessions.

The only requirement is that interested people should be able to swim.
