Family day at Turffontein Racecourse

The second leg of the all-important Triple Tiara, Classic Day, at Turffontein Racecourse.

The second leg of the all-important Triple Tiara, Classic Day, will see a number of racegoers trackside supporting their favourite horses.

The gates at Turffontein Racecourse open at 11am, with ample parking and family entertainment for the day.

Unfortunately, the first leg of the Triple Tiara had to be cancelled due to bad weather, but all races were accommodated on other race days.

A number of feature race days will take place at Turffontein Racecourse before the season ends for winter racing.

The Triple Crown is a series of three races run in quick succession for South Africa’s best three-year-old horses – the Triple Crown for colts and geldings and the Triple Tiara for fillies.

The series requires strength, stamina and heart. Winning just one of these races is considered an achievement, while winning all three is a massive accolade which has only been achieved a handful of times.

Classic Day will take place on March 7 and include two feature races – the second leg of the Triple Crown (the SA Classic) and the Triple Tiara series (the SA Fillies Classic), both over 1 800m.

Children will have their entertainment area. There will also be lucky draws, cash prizes, a beer garden and live entertainment. Classic Day is a day for the whole family to enjoy. Entrance to the racecourse is free.
