Marx gets his hooks in the leadership role of Lions

Malcom Marx, who resides in Alberton, will take over the leadership at the Lions team.

SPRINGBOK and Emirates Lions hooker Malcom Marx, who resides in Alberton, will take over the leadership from Warren Whiteley, who sustained an injury and will be out of action for the next six weeks.

He captained the side for the first time against the Vodacom Bulls on March 2 on home soil, Emirates Airlines Park.

Marx is confident to lead the Joburg franchise in the Vodacom Super Rugby series and said that he has a lot of support from his teammates.

Apart from his renowned ball-poaching abilities, the 24-year-old star hooker also shares the team’s try-scoring record of 27 tries with outside backs Courtnall Skosan and Lionel Mapoe.

He was born and bred in Germiston and now lives in Alberton.
