Hockey Wars pre-season tournament at Randburg.

IT is all action as the forthcoming Federation of International Hockey (FIH) Pro-League gets into full swing.

The Pro-League matches are played around the globe which also include South Africa where affiliated players show their skills.

The matches in South Africa were recently played at the University of Witwatersrand’s astro fields in Johannesburg. Both the men’s and women’s national teams held their own and produced excellent play against top teams from other parts of the world.

Other countries represented in the FIH Pro Leagues include Argentina, Australia, Belgium, China, Germany and Great Britain.

In the meantime, the Hockey Wars pre-season tournament will take place from March 8 to 10 at the Randburg Astro.

Twelve men’s and 12 women’s teams will compete in the tournament, where the aim is not to win but to have fun. Teams will play in a round robin format.

Hockey Wars is an annual hockey tournament to prepare players to get back into the flow of things before the winter hockey season kicks off. Entries for this event have already opened.
