Alberhart Tennis Club still going strong after 40 years
Alberhart celebrates 40 years.
ALBERHART Tennis Club is celebrating 40 years this year.
The founding members of the club were Dr Andre van Rensburg, John Niehaus, George Robertson and Barry Wratten.
Van Rensburg was a dentist in Alberton, and Niehaus, a bank manager. Robertson had an advertising agency and Wratten had a sports shop in Alberton.
For several years, the club hosted a hugely successful ranked junior tournament over the December period, with more than 300 children from as far away as Zimbabwe attending this wonderful event.
Over the years, the club has continued to maintain excellent facilities thanks to the support of the Alberton Town Council, the National Lottery, the loyal members and strong, dedicated committees.
