WALKERVILLE Society Sport (WSS) was established in May with the sole purpose of helping people that are in need.
Anton Boerner and Virgilia Hollins are the founding members who are assisted by six other committee members. The society raises funds by playing sport in order to help individuals that are underprivileged and animals that are ill-treated.
The other goal that the WSS has is to connect people through sport. Although WSS is relatively new, each event that has been staged by WSS has proved successful.
“We have hosted various different sports events every second week of the month with a conservation walk in between.
“These events are advertised within the community and on Facebook via our group and other pages. Each event requires an entry fee and is donated to charity after each event,” explained Boerner.
