SA amateur champ from South Hills

Ricardo Malajika has been included in the 2020 Olympic squad.

THE current South African champion from South Hills Amateur Boxing Club, Ricardo Malajika, has been included in the 2020 Olympic squad and has just been crowned as the Gauteng champion in the 56kg category.

Seventeen-year-old Marinda Malajika, who is the reigning 2017 52kg division champion, was included in the Eastern Cape Academy of Sport, ECAS, for the 2020 Olympic squad.

Athletes who are included in the 2020 Olympic squad compete on a national and international level and will be administered by the ECAS to enable them to compete at a higher level.

He represented Gauteng to participate in the Gauteng Youth championships to retain his title over the weekend. The championship was held on August 3 and 4 in Pretoria.

The club has over 20 years’ experience and specialise in conditioning fitness, self-defence and most especially in boxing.
