Phiri scouts top soccer talent

Top talented players selected by Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty.

Three top talented young football players were selected by Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty (AGCS) Africa on June 22 at the Allianz Football Tournament held at the Three Square Sports Ground. Kabelo Seopa from Realogile High, Lebogang Dolo from Alexandra High and Tebatso Sekoaleng from Minerva High stand a chance of representing South Africa at the Allianz Junior Football Camp, AJFC, in Munich, Germany from August 27 to 31.

Football legend Maimane Phiri, AGCS Africa head of marketing and communications, Lesiba Sethoga, and independent legal expert Melvin Neale, director at MNA Attorneys, selected the three players out of almost 50 from six schools in Alexandra. They will decide on the ultimate winner in July following assessments based on their passion for football, digital technology and future topics.

The South African teenager will join 57 others from 24 nations between the ages of 14 to 16 at the camp, which is now in its 10th year. While there, they will meet FC Bayern stars, be trained by youth coaches and participate in innovation and digital activities beyond football in a packed five-day programme, hosted by Allianz and FC Bayern. The young players will also get an opportunity to bid farewell to Bastian Schweinsteiger on August 28 live at the Allianz Arena between FC Bayern and Chicago Fire.
