Female boxer hear bout list

Unleashed Combat Sport Events staging a successful boxing tournament.

A SOUTHERNER, Hedda Wolmarans, and Khollosa Ndobayini made a little bit of history being the first women boxers to head to bout list.

Unleashed Combat Sport Events staged their boxing tournament on June 9 at the Portuguese Hall and boast the first female fight in South Africa to head the bout card where the rest of the bouts consist of men.

The fight between the two arch rivals was a rematch and had all the ingredients of a display of craft, as Wolmarans outscored Ndobayini picking out her shots to soften up her opponent. Each of the boxers brought their own fan club and the at times the spectators were on their feet helping Wolmarans and Ndobayini through their boxing moves.

Wolmarans won by unanimous point’s decision from the judges in the junior-welterweight bout over six rounds.

The outcome of the supporting bout came as a surprise as home favourite Mike Schutte (junior) was stopped in his tracks by Danny Ngokwey. The DRC born boxer, Ngokwey, made heavy weather of Schutte to take him down in the last round of the allocated cruiserweight four-rounder by TKO. Schutte has two fights behind him which he won one by KO and lost the other by TKO while Ngokwey made his debut fight winning by TKO.

Young up and coming boxers Tristan Truter and Valentino Mutunda faced each other in a welterweight bout over four rounds. Truter won his fight by unanimous points’ decision by the judges.

Siya Mabena made no mistake as he roped in his win over Desmond Lephale in the junior-welterweight division bout over four rounds winning by TKO in the first round.

The other results are:

Bouckson Bukasa won by TKO second round in the middleweight division over four rounds against Kose Thaba. Lebo Mshitoa won by unanimous points’ decision by the judges in the cruiserweight division over four rounds against Serge Mukanya. Hafeni Linus Gerhard won by KO in the final round in the junior-welterweight division over four rounds against Hendreque Lando. Lybon Ricky Ntshani won by TKO in the second round in the junior-middleweight division over four rounds against Luvo Piliso. Anthony Grobler won by KO in the final round in the junior-lightweight division over four rounds against Njabulo Merile.
