Powerful Pitbull team

Pit Bull members held their own at the powerlifting competition.

MEMBERS of the Pit Bull gymnasium club held their own when competing at the Madness at Madison Avenue 2017 Powerlifting competition.

Seven of the members at the Pit Bull gymnasium competed in the event in Pretoria on Tuesday, March 21.

Angel Haverly set up a national record in her division in the bench press and deadlift. AJ Ceronio competed in the deadlift and squat and also recorded national records in his division. Kobus Bester, one of the coaches at the club, qualified for the national event, which will take place in the latter part of the year.

Calvin Makondo competed in the bench press, setting up a national record in his division. Cain Stewart received a 9/9 lifts in his division, bettering his personal best attempts. Colin du Bruyn, a coach at the Pit Bull club, qualified for the national event. Keaton le Roux will also take part in the nationals.

The Pit Bull gymnasium is gearing up for the Arnold Classic Africa Strict Arm Curl and Strongman in the u.90kg. The Classic will take place in Johannesburg from Friday, May 5, to Sunday, May 7. The National Powerlifting championship will be held in June.

The clubs’ sponsors are Build it Gold Reef, Ridgeway Butchery and Mochachos Ormonde.
