Lions beaten by Jaguares

Lions soundly beaten by the Jaguares.

Emirates Lions’ winning streak has been brought to a standstill, going down over the weekend at the hands of the Jaguares.

The third round of the Vodacom Super Rugby took place over the weekend of Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 12, with mixed results for the South African franchises.

Emirates Lions travelled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to face the Jaguares on home territory.

The Jaguares beat the local franchise from Johannesburg, who had to return empty-handed, in the last fixture of the weekend 36-24 after leading 21-7 at halftime.

This has brought the Lions short-lived winning streak to an abrupt halt.

Both teams scored four tries, but it was the Jaguares who impressed with their style of play and picked up four points for their efforts and to swap places on the Africa Conference 2 with the Lions.

The Jaguares are now in the third position on the log.

This weekend’s Round 4 action will see the Jaguares welcome the Cheetahs to Buenos Aires on Saturday, March 18, at 21:40 SA time, while the Lions host the Reds at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday, March 18, at 17:15.
