Sport Industry on track

Sport Industry nominations open for entries.

THE Sport Industry Group has announced the launch of the 2017 Discovery Sport Industry Awards and Summit, which is set to take place on May 18, 2017 at the Sandton Convention Centre and on May 12, at the Vodaworld Events Conference Venue respectively.

The launch saw a number of high profile guests from the sport industry in attendance.

The Discovery Sport Industry Awards celebrates the best work in the business of sport and showcases all the great work that’s been completed during the previous awards cycle. For the coming cycle, to cater for a fast-paced industry, several new categories have been added which include: Best Management of a Sportsperson, Sport Industry Personality of the Year and New Agency of the Year. Additionally, new criteria have been added to existing categories, to further increase their relevance.

Dinesh Govender, Chief Marketing Officer of Discovery said: “We’re honoured to sponsor the Discovery Sport Industry Awards and Summit, because it provides a platform upon which to share industry excellence, connect businesses and professionals – and celebrate the great work done in sport.”

Govender notes that sport plays a very important role in society, by being a vehicle for positive social change.

As part of the launch, Sport Industry Group also announced that an extra layer of judging has been added, to make the awards process even more rigorous and stringent. Deloitte will once again serve as the independent adjudicator, to ensure the Awards maintain their esteemed positioning and integrity.

Entries for the 2017 Discovery Sport Industry Awards will officially be open from November 16 and will close on February 3, 2017.
