The 18 member squad was handpicked by Shakes Mashaba, Owen Da Gama, Khabo Zondo and Mike Mangena. These players stood out amongst 2 500 talented footballers who were also trying to secure a spot in the team that will be drafted into the 16 PSL teams for a month, to try and impress the coaches and advance their careers.

The Ke Yona team search in Gauteng took place at the Rand Stadium where some of these players were in action hoping to secure a place in the final squad.

Since inception in 2012, the annual Nedbank Ke Yona team search has unearthed more than 13 players who are now plying their trade in professional teams in the National First Division and Premier Soccer League. Cape Town City’s Aubrey Modiba is currently representing the men’s u.23 team at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Modiba was named the 2016 PSL Young Player of the Season.
