Lions ready to defend their Currie Cup title

Xerox Goldon Lions to face Pumas in Currie Cup match.

XEROX Golden Lions will be defending their Currie Cup title when they step onto the field this Saturday, August 13.

The Emirates Lions Super Rugby squad ended their campaign on a high going through to the finals but unfortunately suffered ultimate defeat at the hands of a determined Hurricanes team.

The Nashua Currie Cup season commenced last weekend with the first round of matches, but the Lions had a bye due to the fact that they were still involved in the finals of the Super Rugby series.

The first step towards defending the title will be taken on Saturday at Emirates Airlines Park when they face the Pumas as the 2016 Currie Cup squad.

The match starts at 15:00 and ticket prices range between R20 and R100 each.

The programme for Saturday is as follows:

  •  10:00 Gates open.
  •  10:15 Xerox Golden Lions u.19 vs Leopards.
  • 12:15 Xerox Golden Lions u.21 vs Leopards.
  • 15:00 Xerox Golden Lions vs Pumas.
