The 2016 Carling Black Label Champion Cup featuring Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates has proven to be a quite popular event on the South African soccer calendar. Tickets are officially sold out, 17 days ahead of the much anticipated showpiece on July 30.

The overwhelming reaction by South African football fans, in the five consecutive years, shows that this is not a normal derby, but a distinctive one as it gives them the privilege to influence the starting line-up and Be the Coach.

Vijay Govindsamy, Carling Black Label general manager, said,”This is another milestone for us at Carling Black Label. It speaks volumes about the initiative, also showing that the fans are hungry for football action. The Carling Black Label Champion Cup comes at the right time. We would like to thank our Champion Coaches for their continued engagement and support of this unique initiative”.

“We knew that partnering with the two teams in this campaign would transcend football. I cannot think of a better way to preview the upcoming season other than with a classic encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and their arch rivals Orlando Pirates in a stadium packed to capacitym” Govindsamy concluded.
