THE South African Shotokan Karate Academy (SASKA) recently held its national black belt grading in Pretoria.
SASKA is renowned for its high standards and, as always, the grading challenge was a tough one.
The students of Cobras Shotokan Karate Club in Alberton performed excellently on the day and the instructors, sensei Laurent and Nicholas Gaston-Bellegarde, are proud to announce the following students who passed their gradings: Morne Buchner, Marelize Howard and Linda Wood, who all passed to their first dan black belts, Amy Howard who recieved her junior black belt and Taylor Marx who graded to her first kyu senior brown belt.
In the SASKA style, a black belt is not just something you wear around your waist while you train, it is a way of life and an attitude which you adopt and take with you into your future. The Cobras club is proud to see its team of black belts growing each year.
