AN all new off-road 4×4 track has been constructed at the world famous Kyalami Grand Prix Track in Midrand.

Built by the Isuzu Off-Road Academy, in conjunction with Lonerock Construction, it features a range of exciting obstacles to teach the art of off-road driving, as well as showcasing a vehicle’s capabilities and technical features.

The 4×4 track is now part of the newly developed Kylalami Grand Prix facility that was originally built in 1961 and soon established itself as the premier motor sport facility in Southern Africa. As race fans flocked to the circuit, with crowds approaching 100000 at major events, a festival atmosphere become a Kyalami trademark.

In May of 2015, an extensive redevelopment plan for the facility was announced, including changes to the circuit layout, resurfacing of the circuit, upgrade of all spectator areas and facilities and a major upgrade to the pit building, exhibitions and conferencing centre. A new driving dynamic area, skidpan and 1,1km handling track are also under construction. Safety upgrades to a FIA Grade 2 level have been installed. The new facility will reopen in mid-2016.
