Cracker of fights await pundits

Paul Kamanga will face off against Roman Zhailauov from Kazakhstan.

DEFENDING an unbeaten record is sometimes far more emotionally draining than facing your direct opposition. But this is what Paul Kamanga will have to deal with when he climbs into the ring against Roman Zhailauov from Kazakhstan.

The final bell for a busy boxing calendar this year will ring on Tuesday, December 1, when Christmas Cracker is presented by AfricanRing in conjunction with Golden Gloves Boxing Promoters at Emperors Palace.

Boxing starts at 19:00 in the Convention Centre.

Always dedicated and super fit, Kamanga under the watchful eye of his trainer Anton Gilmore from Box Office, will take on a cunning Zhailauov in the WBA Pan-Africa welterweight fight. Zhailauov only recorded one loss in his 15 outings against Thompson Mokwana at the same venue. The Kazakhstan boasts nine KOs and will definitely be after Kamanga’s blood to revenge his earlier loss.

On the other hand Kamanga will have to up his work rate in order to retain his undefeated record of 17 fights and nine KOs.

Warren Joubert, the former South African junior-welterweight champion, will come face to face with Jason Bedeman as the main undercard. Both boxers are on their way back after suffering losses in their previous encounters. Interestingly enough both are also hard workers in the gym and give their all inside the ring on fight night.

The other outstanding bouts that promoters Jeff Ellis and Rodney Berman have put together are junior-bantamweight Joshua Studdard vs Edward Disolwane and DeeJay Kriel vs Thabo Moabie in a six round mini-flyweight bout.
