Toy Run at Carnival City

Carnival City has pledged its support for the 33rd annual Gauteng Motorcycle Toy Run.

CARNIVAL City has pledged its support for the 33rd annual Gauteng Motorcycle Toy Run, providing a start venue for the hundreds of motorcyclists that will participate in the mass ride to Benoni Northerns Athletics Club on Sunday, November 29. This will be the first time that Carnival City has provided a start venue for the event, and the fifth consecutive year that the Benoni Northerns Athletics Club host the finish.

Several biker clubs will be participating in the mass ride from four venues in the North, South, East and West of Gauteng to collects gifts and toys for underprivileged children. Each year, some 20 000 bikers participate in the mass ride and over 25 000 gifts are collected to be distributed to service clubs and children-related charity organisations so that the children can celebrate Christmas with a gift.

The mass ride from Carnival City will commence at 09:00. With hundreds of bikes revving and riders laden with toys, it is a spectacle that the community is encouraged to come down to see. People not participating in the mass ride are also encouraged to visit Benoni Northerns Athletics Club to watch the bikers arrive and join in the fun. There will be over a hundred stalls selling food and crafts, a sound stage with two live bands, entertainment and a beer garden. The entrance fee is a toy. Ideally, educational toys or toiletries should be donated. No toy guns or knives will be accepted. People are urged to bear in mind that battery operated toys are of little use once the batteries die.

People or companies wishing to host a stall can e-mail stalls@toyrun.org.za or contact Graeme on 083 463 2761 or Pete on 083 229 6621. For more information, visit www.toyrun.org.za or e-mail info@toyrun.org.za
