Warrior of all races

Southerners showed their mettle competing in the grueling Warrior Race.

SOUTHERNERS, Jurie Fourie (24) and Rudi Delport (34), continue to show their mettle in the gruelling Jeep Warrior Race.

Since first entering the obstacle race back in 2013, the duo upped their game and in 2014 managed to travel to and participate in all eight races across the country.

On Saturday, October 10, Fourie competed in his first Rookie Elite race at the Meerendal Wine Estate in Cape Town, and mastered 12 obstacles over 5km to battle his way to a second place in a time of 42:50.

“I targeted this race and was very well prepared. Leading the race the first 1km my main rival overtook me and ended three minutes ahead of me,” said Fourie.

The day after finishing in second place, Fourie and Delport participated on the Sunday as Team JR, in the Black-Ops Race, which consists of 30 obstacles over a 15km course. Despite struggling over the last two kilometers Team JR still managed to finish in third place overall.

The duo will be closing off the Jeep Warrior Race season at the Zebra Country Lodge in Pretoria on November 22 and 23 to again end 2015 with eight completed races.
