Resilience tumblers excel

Resilience Gymnastics tumblers competed in competitions throughout the year and achieved great results.

RESILIENCE Gymnastics Club tumblers excelled at all their competitions this year.

First time competitors, Alex van der Merwe and Deren Moodliar competed in level one and achieved great results at their competitions. Alex came second overall at the Eagles Tumbling Competition held in Benoni on May 30 and third overall at the Tumble Mania competition held in Randburg on June 20. Deren received second overall at Tumble Mania and on July 25 he won first overall at the Twisters Competition in Benoni.

Senior level three tumbler Donelle Maccario, and senior level four tumblers Seth van der Merwe, Adrian Knoetze and Dane Gunkel took part in the Eagles Tumbling Competition, Tumble Mania and the Twisters Competition.

At these competitions Adrian obtained a fifth, first and sixth place respectively. Dane took the third spot at the Eagles Tumbling Competition, was fourth at Tumble Mania and first at the Twisters Competition. Seth obtained a first and two second places whilst Donelle obtained two fifth places and a fourth place.

These competitions were qualifiers for the Gauteng Championships held in Randburg on September 5. All the participating senior tumblers qualified for the championships and ultimately Adrian and Donelle finished in fourth overall position and Dane finished in fifth overall position.

For the second consecutive year Seth blew the competition away to be crowned the Gauteng Champion. These senior gymnasts were also awarded their Gauteng provincial colours and qualified for the SA National Games which were held in Pretoria from October 4-10.

At nationals Donelle finished in ninth overall position in her section, Dane finished seventh overall in his section, Adrian finished third in his section and Seth was crowned as the South African Champion.
