Turffontein Racecourse to host SA Mounted Games

Racing to Jump has held two successful show jumping events, one at Turffontein and the other at the Vaal Racecourse.

SOUTH African Mounted Games riders will be in action at the Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday, October 17. The mounted games competition will run alongside horse racing on the lawn area in front of the grandstand.

Three of the SA open riders who competed at the world team competition, held in Kentucky in July, will be showing off their riding skills as well as members of the South African Police Mounted Unit and polocrosse teams. Three members of the SA young riders invitation team, competing at the Nations Competition in Australia later this year, will make up the balance of the riders.

All equestrians are being challenged to donate their excess track and riding gear to the Soweto Riding School. A collection point for all donations will be set up at the racecourse on the day.

This event will be run under the same banner of Racing to Jump, that has held two successful show jumping events, one at Turffontein and the other at the Vaal Racecourse.

Light lunches on the City Deck are available for under R50 and a full buffet will also be available. To book for the buffet, phone at Turffontein Racecourse 011 681 1702.

Gates open at 11:00. Entrance to the racecourse as well as parking is free. Enter through the Turf Club Road entrance. For more information regarding the event phone Felicia Rowan on 011 681 1880.
