KE Yona team confident ahead of clash against Sundowns

Ke Yona Challenge is scheduled for Sunday September 6 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

With only a day to go before the 2015 Nedbank Ke Yona Challenge, both teams are going all out to ensure that they secure a win. Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville will play host to the third edition of the Nedbank Ke Yona Challenge, where the Ke Yona Team players will be up against the reigning Nedbank Cup winners, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 18-men squad of the Ke Yona Team selected from thousands of players, who made their way to the trials, is hard at training as they prepare for the biggest and most competitive game of their lives. Speaking on behalf of the Ke Yona Team selectors, Khabo Zondo expressed his delight in working with such a talent.

“Our Ke Yona boys are physically and mentally ready to face the opposition come Sunday. We have a few touch-ups here and there but we are confident that the Ke Yona graduates will live it all on the field and give Sundowns a run for their money. We are looking forward to an exciting encounter between the two teams and we urge the fans to come in numbers to support the Ke Yona Team in their journey as they prove that they can compete at the highest level in football”, said Zondo.

Since its inception, the Nedbank Ke Yona Team search has unearthed a number of quality footballers who have, not only contributed to the Premier Soccer League and National First Division side, but also the country’s national team.

Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi congratulated Nedbank for contributing to the country’s football development, and wished the Ke Yona boys a prosperous future. “We truly need more initiatives of this nature that can make sure that the roughest diamonds are unearthed and given the chance to contribute to the nation’s rich football history. Well done to all the boys that made the final squad. “

“We are eager for the game on Sunday, aiming for the win with a solid team from the back right through to the front”, said Mnqgithi.

The Ke Yona Challenge is scheduled for Sunday September 6 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium and tickets are available for free at all Computicket and Shoprite Checkers outlets limited to two tickets per person. Fans are reminded to bring along their ID when redeeming their free match tickets.
