Resilience gymnasts perform well

Eight girls in the rhythmic gymnasts category have obtained excellent results.

RESILIENCE Gymnastics Club, in Robertsham, have reason to smile, as they have had a great season so far.

Eight girls in the rhythmic gymnasts category obtained excellent results at the South African Gymnastics Federation (SAGF) competition, which was held in Pretoria.

Tebogo Banda and Nokukhanya Mohlamme were the winners of the SAGF Team Trophy, an event that featured only girls and placed specific focus on the discipline of rhythmic gymnastics, a type of gymnastics that is done by girls on the floor and consists of gymnastics moves with free dance and the use of clubs, rope, ribbons, a hoop or ball.

Roxanne van Herwaarde, owner of the club, said the trophy is awarded to each team per section who achieved the highest score.

Lesedi Lebopa was the winner of the St Mary’s School friendly rhythmic gymnastics competition, held in Waverley, Johannesburg, while Tebogo secured a second place in this competition.

At another competition, the Central Gauteng Regionals, which was held in Randburg, both Lesedi and Tebogo finished in third place overall in their respective sections.

Of the seven girls who participated in this competition, six qualified for the Inter-Provincials and will soon be awarded Gauteng Provincial Colours for their great achievements.

Roxanne said the whole club are bursting with pride.

“Well done to all! We are proud of you and thank you all for your hard work, as well as the support from the parents,” she added.
