DYLAN Ronald da Silva, a young Southern cyclist and triathlete from Alberton Cycling Club, recently scooped an award as one of the top three sportsmen of the year, for people with disabilities in the entire Ekurhuleni.

Dylan, who hails from Mondeor and is a past pupil from Francois Vorwerg School, was selected for the SA team which took part in the International Triathlon Union World Championships in Canada and was awarded his Protea colours for triathlon. As a sportsman with disabilities, he won the national triathlon championship at the 2014 SA Cycling Championships in both the road race and the time trial events.

He was the only sportsman from the South, representing an Alberton club, to be honoured on behalf of the executive mayor of Ekurhuleni, with a coveted award as sportsman of the year (people with disabilities) finalist at the annual Ekurhuleni’s Sports Awards ceremony held at the Alberton Civic Centre.

Dylan is currently training hard for the UIC Para Cycling Road World Cup in Pietermaritzburg from September 11 to 13.
