Webb Ellis Cup returns to Emirates Airlines Park

The RWC 2015 will take place in England this year.

THE Webb Ellis Cup made a welcome return to Emirates Airlines Park on Tuesday, May 26, to be viewed by the rugby fraternity and former players.

The Rugby World Cup 2015 will take place in England, in September, where the Springboks will once again play for top honours.

The Springboks won the RWC on home soil in 1995, the most famous win for them, and away in 2007 in France. The team will now be looking to make history by winning the Webb Ellis Cup for the third time.

Emirates has brought the most coveted prize in world rugby to South Africa for a two day visit ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2015.

Former Springbok wing Chester Williams, who was one of the 1995 team members, conducted a coaching clinic with learners from various schools in Johannesburg together with Lions u.19 players.

The Webb Ellis Cup arrived in style in Johannesburg, on board Emirates flight EK 761 and was received by Chester Williams and Fouad Caunhye, Emirates regional manager for Southern Africa.

Emirates is a Worldwide Partner of Rugby World Cup 2015 and has also taken the trophy to New Zealand and Australia, both previous Rugby World Cup winners, and to Dubai, the airline’s hub.
