Ke Yona team search in the South

Ke Yona Team Search will take place in the South.

After travelling to five different provinces across the country, the 2015 Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search trials will make its final stop at the Rand Stadium for the Gauteng edition. Once again, aspiring footballers will be given a chance to make their dreams happen when try-outs take place on Saturday May 30 from 07:00.

The third edition of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search is led by an experienced quartet of selectors; Shakes Mashaba, Mike Mangena, Khabo Zondo and Owen Da Gama will be looking to dig up the last batch of rough diamonds as the search for quality talent reaches the end of the first phase.

Ke Yona Team selector and coach, Khabo Zondo said that he was looking forward to seeing the skilful players that Gauteng is well known for.

“We are approaching the final phase of the team search after travelling to different parts of the country. The Gauteng try outs will be quite tough more especially for the midfield players as this is where most of our midfielders were unearthed for the past two years. We expecting to see some exciting talent and urge all potential footballers to seize the opportunity and prove that anyone can be extraordinary when the partner with Nedbank” said Zondo.

In last year’s Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search, six players from the Gauteng province made it into the final squad, including midfield maestro, Morgan van Rooyen who now plays for Santos FC and was voted man of the match in the team’s match against last year’s Nedbank Cup champions, Orlando Pirates.

The Ke Yona Team search will head into the bootcamp phase after the selectors conclude their provisional squad of 48 players. The bootcamps will be used by the coaches to trim down the team to the final 18-man squad that will take on this year’s champions of the Nedbank Cup, Mamelodi Sundowns. Nedbank will also provide financial management lessons to the boys to assist them in making sound financial decisions.
