Coach and Player of the month praised

Absa Premiership monthly awards.

ON-FORM University of Pretoria striker Thabo Mnyamane and recently appointed Polokwane City coach Kosta Papic have been named ABSA Premiership Player and Coach of the Month respectively for their outstanding efforts during November and December 2014.

Mnyamane, who has formed a solid partnership up front for AmaTuks with Ugandan international Geofrey Masa, played a key role in his team’s impressive results ahead of the mid-season break.

The 22-year-old forward scored five goals in eight matches during the awards period, helping Tuks claw their way to 12th place as they lifted themselves from the relegation zone.

“If this wasn’t for my team I will not be here. I am very proud to receive this award,” said Mnyamane.

“All that I have to do for the club is to keep them away from relegation, I also want the players to enjoy their soccer and give them the freedom of playing their game,” said Papic.

Papic meanwhile continued to make an impact, after being appointed Polokwane head coach in early October 2014.

The Yugoslavian guided his squad to five wins from their eight fixtures during the period considered for the accolade, as they soared to sixth place in the league standings heading into the next phase of the campaign.

ABSA, as proud sponsor of South Africa’s top-flight football league, is pleased to recognise Mnyamane and Papic for their contributions as they continue to play leading roles for their clubs in an effort to prosper at the highest level of the domestic game.
