Injured Dubuisson replaced by Todd in Nedbank Golf Challenge field

Victor Dubuisson has withdrawn from the Nedbank Golf Challenge which will start on Thursday December 4 and lasts until December 7.

Victor Dubuisson has withdrawn from the Nedbank Golf Challenge that will start on Thursday December 4 to 7 at Gary Player Country Club, Sun City and has been replaced in the field by American Brendon Todd.

Dubuisson has had to withdraw because of a back injury. Todd qualified by virtue of his world ranking of 42, after the initial cut-off date of the Monday after the PGA Championship.

His inclusion in the tournament makes him the third American in the field alongside Kevin Na and Brooks Koepka.

“We’re obviously disappointed not to have Victor join us at Sun City, but we understand his reasons and wish him a speedy recovery. At the same time, we’re delighted to see Brendon make his debut at Sun City and strengthen the American presence in the field,” said Alastair Roper, Tournament Director of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

The 29-year-old Todd claimed his maiden PGA Tour victory in May this year, when he won the Byron Nelson Championship, beating Mike Weir by two strokes.

His 2014 season also featured finishes of tied 17th in the US Open and a further six top-10s.

Following his victory in the Byron Nelson Championship, Todd finished fifth, eighth, 17th, fifth and fourth in his next five tournaments, making him the hottest player on the PGA Tour at this time.

Currently ranked 52nd in the world, Todd heads to Sun City confident of his place at the highest level of the game.

“I feel like I’m deserving of my place on Tour and feel like I can win again. I’m excited about that challenge ahead.”
