triple header draws spectators to Bidvest

RAM SLam T20 at Bidvest Wanderers Stadium

Despite the power outages which affected to whole of Johannesburg and the chilly conditions, the spectators came out to watch some of the most exciting cricket by the hand of the Triple header RAM SLAM T20 which was staged at Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on Sunday November 2.
Some of the six franchises made use of the contracted players from Wes-Indies and England to boast their performances in the shorter version of the play.
Chevrolet Knights burst out of the blocks in the first of the exciting encounters and recorded a bumper bonus victory over Chevrolet Warriors. Despite losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Knights dominated the game from start to finish, amassing 205 for five and then bowling the Warriors out for 131 to win by 74 runs.
The second clash saw Kieron Pollard hit an unbeaten half-century and struck three crucial blows with the ball to give Nashua Cape Cobras the points from their high-scoring RAM SLAM T20 clash with The Unlimited Titans.
Pollard’s 72 not out from 36 balls took the Cobras to a total of 207/5 of Sunday’s triple-header, but his cunning with the ball proved equally important later on when Henry Davids and Dean Elgar put on a record opening stand for the Titans.
The pair had carried the Titans to 151 without loss when Pollard removed Elgar for 72 in the 15th over, and he went on to grab the wickets of Davids and fellow West Indian Darren Sammy.
The timing of Pollard’s wickets did the trick for the Cobras, who were able to squeeze the new batsmen in the death overs and limit the Titans to 193/4 to take a 14-run victory.
The last but not the least for the local franchise bizhub Highveld Lions, when Chris Gayle made an immediate mark on the RAM SLAM T20 competition as he led the them to victory over the Sunfoil Dolphins in the final match of Sunday’s triple-header at Bidvest Wanderers.
Gayle broke the Dolphins’ key partnership in taking 4/36 as the visitors were limited to 172/9, then hit 56 from 38 deliveries as the Lions reached their target with six wickets and seven balls in hand.
Although Gayle’s innings was sedate by his standards, and included just two sixes, it was an intelligent one as he stood firm in the face of an early collapse.
Gayle was named Ram Deliverer of the Day, while Cody Chetty picked up the Ram Slammer prize.
