Khumalo is champion jockey of the year

S’Manga Khumalo not only made history on the racing course, but also off the field when he was named the first jockey of colour to win Champion Jockey of 2014.

S’MANGA Khumalo not only made history on the racing course, but also off field when he was named the first jockey of colour to win the most prestigious award – Champion Jockey of 2014.

Khumalo won the 2013 July on Heavy Metal to become the first jockey of colour to win the July in this event history.

The prestigious Equus Awards, also known as the “Oscars” of South African horseracing, took place on Wednesday August 13 at Emperors Palace, where the top breeders, horses stables and jockeys were honoured for the efforts in the past season.

The best of the season was be celebrated and honoured.
