The move is to encourage operators to convey commuters in vehicles that are roadworthy.

The more roadworthy vehicles on Gauteng’s roads/freeways, the less accidents will be recorded. Some fatal collisions are due to unroadworthy vehicles i.e. faulty brakes and steering mechanism, worn tyres lead to tyre burst, causing cars to overturn and resulting in fatal accidents.

Our objective is to ensure the safety of passengers by conveying them in vehicles that are roadworthy, reliable, safe and convenient.

We urge operators and drivers to cooperate, comply and join hands with traffic authorities in an attempt to curb fatalities and aid us in realising our objective of reducing or minimising fatal crashes and accidents due to unroadworthy public passenger transport.

For more information operatores can contact the Gauteng Traffic Police on 011 689 3600 and ask for floor 21, Traffic or JMPD (Langlaagte VTS) on 011 247 1000, ask for the extention for voluntary testing.

We will not hesitate to arrest.

Remember in Gauteng, asibhenywa, asi bayi iskeelm, siya bopha.
