The Hansa Fish Canoe Marathon which is hosted annually in Cradock, in the Eastern Cape, has always proved to be a popular A grade race with a guaranteed water release and canoeists flock to the little Karoo town to enjoy the wild water obstacles, chutes built over the weirs, and mighty rapids on the fast flowing Fish river. Suitable for novice canoeists as their first A grade race, it is also a fabulous social away weekend for the whole family with bands and parties including guest entertainers who this year were Theuns Jordaan and Centre Stage.

Mark Hall has enjoyed his 8th Hansa Fish River Canoe Marathon while his daughter, Jamie has also been paddling with him for some years and enjoys the adrenalin rush of the huge mighty waves of the Fish River!

The family from Winchester Hills is members of the Johannesburg Canoe Club based at Wemmer Pan. Young Jamie attends Wits Education Campus. Father and daughter finished the two day 80km Fish river marathon in 7 hours 10 minutes overall position 375th boat with nearly 700 finishing.
