2014 CHAN spread its wings

CHAN 2014 ready for action.

NASREC – The third African Nations Championships will take place next year from January 11 to February 1.

For the Orange African Nations Championship, South Africa 2014 to truly be a success, the backing of the people of South Africa, and indeed the entire African continent, is important.

This was the message coming from Mvuzo Mbebe, Chief Executive Officer of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) at the press Conference on Monday October 28.

The LOC CHAN 2014 has already made it clear that they need to attract the spectators to support this event in South Africa.

The Volunteer Programme has already been launched. The next step will be to launch the ticketing programme within the next two weeks.

The volunteers, who will be the public face of the tournament, will play a vital role in all aspects of the CHAN 2014. The volunteers will provide a service to the official CAF/LOC events and tournaments focusing on the CAF Family, official Venues of the Tournament, Sponsors, CAF/LOC Headquarters, Protocol and other official designated areas of the CHAN 2014 Local Organising Committee.

“This event is very important for South African soccer fans as they will be able to see all the countries and Africa’s best players in action on their doorstep,” said Mbebe. “The draw took place and we all know who will be coming to play in our country.”

The host cities are Cape Town, Polokwane and Bloemfontein, with match venues still to be decided, “We are not going to let the success of Orange AFCON 2013 get into our heads and we are not taking anything for granted. We are applying the same formula we used during AFCON as well as the lessons learnt to make sure that Orange CHAN 2014 delivers in accordance with our objectives as well as CAF expectations. We are still going to return to the host cities for another round of visits as the LOC, at the end of August and again in November, together with CAF again. This is how seriously we take this competition.”
