Be careful about passing judgement

“A topic of this nature is always an extremely sensitive one.”

After reading the readers’ opinions in the Comaro CHRONICLE, December 6, page 7, I’d like to give my opinion on the matter of Oscar Pistorius’ re-sentencing.

A topic of this nature is always an extremely sensitive one, only because individuals, people, parents, family members and the ‘general public’ all want to be heard.

If you are purely an onlooker or bystander and are not directly involved, you have to be extremely careful in passing judgement, either for or against. The Steenkamps lost a daughter in a brutal death scenario and Oscar faces a lengthy prison sentence – how can one even begin to try and imagine what Reeva’s parents or Oscar and his family went through?

Without getting involved in a battle of words and feelings, judgement has been seen to have been served, and I feel we should leave the matter there and trust that those grieving have now found peace and closure and that Oscar will use his time in prison to re-evaluate his life and also work on controlling his temper!
