Robbed while showing her nursery school to parents

From now on I’ll be more cautious.

If you are a nursery school owner, take heed of what happened to me. On Wednesday, June 28 between 12.30pm and 1pm, a woman with a small baby about six months old and a young man came to view the school.

We opened the gate, they came into my office and when I asked the woman where she lived she couldn’t give me an address as she “had just moved into the house”.

She kept telling me her three-year-old child was still in the car. Of course I asked if the child was alone.

She viewed the baby section, very slowly I might add, and I can only assume it was at this point the young man stole my two cellphones.

The woman kept insisting I go and meet her older ‘child’. I went with one of my staff and in the car was an older man with a beard, sitting in the driver’s seat. The car could have been a Polo and it was white. When I came inside, that’s when I realised my phones had been stolen.

Clearly nursery schools are becoming soft targets, but my dilemma is, and I’m sure it’s the same for other nursery school owners as well: Who is a genuine client and who is a criminal? I have a few ideas to share – have you? Please phone me on 084 818 7638 if you can offer ideas on how to combat this type of crime.

From now on I’ll be more cautious.
