Unsightly huts devalue property

The guard huts were purchased by the residents for the guards when their company was employed years ago.

I am responding to the letter in today’s CHRONICLE (June 21, page 7, ‘Nelson Mandela’s legacy begins with us’) about the guard houses in Wilkinson Street. I live in this road.

The guard huts were purchased by the residents for the guards when their company was employed years ago.

Those huts have been destroyed by the guards who have not looked after them. Residents have had to put out fires in the huts, which were started by the guards to keep warm in winter.

This has been brought to the attention of Thabiletrade, who to date, have failed to take ownership of the problem. They refuse to replace the unsightly huts which are devaluing our properties and area.
