Intersection needs attention in Mondeor

I am addressing this letter to the council men of Mondeor (be it ANC, DA, etc), Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), the Department of Transport and the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police.

I am a Mondoer resident and have been living in this happy suburb for four years now. For over the four years I have seen more than my fair share of road traffic accidents on Columbine Avenue.

As for the intersection of Columbine and Royal Park Drive traffic lights, I have seen the most horrific accidents.
Today, Wednesday August 12 at about 13:30 was yet another one of these horrific accidents involving a truck and about six cars that should not have happened, yet did, as this intersection is a death trap.

There is no respect for the traffic lights and you seriously battle turning right into Royal Park Drive without holding your breath and hoping for the best as you try taking the turn. You cannot clearly see the cars coming towards you and if you do they are traveling at ridiculous speeds to catch the traffic lights at the last second.

This concerns me as I, my husband and my mom use this intersection on a daily basis dropping and collecting our child from school. After this incident I feel blessed that after my mom collected my child they were not caught up in this catastrophe of an accident.

Something has got to be done about this intersection before more lives are damaged or lost.
I plead to drivers to be more cautious, and that we can help find a solution to this issue as quickly as possible.
Drive to stay alive!
