The Bag Lady

Curl up on the couch with, Joanna Trollope’s An Unsuitable Match, an uplifting story of love, family and second chances.

Another week and yes, we’re in March, with Easter creeping up. Although a little later this year, I see lots of Easter bunnies hopping into the shops and Woolworths has done it again with a gorgeous range of Easter eggs and chocolate goodies. I’ll be scouring the shops for more Easter gift ideas and I’ll let you know where to get the best buys in a few weeks.

Have some fun

On March 17 it’s St Patrick’s Day, so a great excuse for a party (probably the day before would be best, especially if you are going to be celebrating with a few drinks). It’s not so big here, but I see a few restaurants and bars will be encouraging you to join in the fun.

The Green Craft Bar next to Glenvista Country Club has decided to celebrate on the Saturday and they’ll have some awesome St Paddy specials, starting when they open till closing, with green beer for all. They also have the best pizzas, so get a few friends together and do it the Irish (and Italian) way. Phone 067 087 3615 for more information.

Next week we have a public holiday (Human Rights Day) on March 21, so if you are clever you’ll take Friday off and make a long weekend of it.

Fresh is best

Last week I went to The Fresh Catch Fisheries in the De Marionette Shopping Centre, Meyersdal, and was quite impressed. There wasn’t a huge choice of fish, but I prefer it this way. The owner obviously prefers to buy fresh fish and sell it while it is still fresh. The bottled curried fish looked delicious. They also sell herbs especially prepared for fish and fish dishes, as well as sauces which would accompany fish dishes. I liked the layout and décor of the shop and it was impressively clean. Give them a try. If you want a particular fish, maybe phone first to see if they have what you are looking for on 083 868 7176.

My favourite buys for March

A sucker for serviettes, I found gorgeous ones at DisChem Mall of the South for R15 a packet of 20. Really great choices at a steal of a price.

Lemongrass and verbena handwash from the English Heritage Range R89 @Home Living The Glen Shopping Centre.

For cooler mornings a floral two-tone snood from Woolies R140 in either aqua or natural.

Duvet covers are my thing and Woolies have a gorgeous one, laura flora (microfibre) from R399.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop!
