Happy New Year, let’s hope it’s going to be a wonderful 2019 for us all.
Christmas already seems a far away dream, or nightmare, depending on how your festive season played out!
Mine was beyond special. I was in UK, England, mainly with my family and friends and believe me there’s nothing quite like a Christmas over there. From beautifully decorated Christmas trees in homes, most of them real, to shop windows bursting with decorations and gift ideas; it was absolutely beautiful.
One particular shop window stood out for me, Fenwicks departmental store in Newcastle. The store windows told the story, with animated characters and decor, of The Snowman! It was a child’s and adults’ dream window. With the added music which accompanied it, it was just magical. I could have stood there taking it all in for an hour but lots of others also wanted to take a peek!
Christmas music blared from radios and on more than one occasion I stopped, as I was shopping (of course), to listen to The Salvation Army choristers sing some of my favourite Christmas Carols.
We didn’t have a white Christmas but a few frosty mornings with thick frost on the ground and cars. It was quite a challenge to defrost the car before we could go out and on Christmas Eve morning, we popped out at 8.15am to buy some groceries, when we returned to the car at 9am it had frozen up again!
There were many highlights while I was there and I’ll tell you a few more next week.
