Four weeks…… and counting! Yikes, get your skates on, no time to waste. The shops are definitely looking more Christmassy with every week and there is a bit of excitement in the air. But still, Christmas is really for the children, so as adults we have to try and get into the spirit, and I don’t mean get into the gin and whisky!
I have tell you, I really battled this week searching out gifts for teens. Especially for around the R100 price range. There really isn’t much. Anyway, here goes!
Girls
Ice cream bag R79.99, iPhone case R99, pineapple candle in ceramic holder R89.99, all from H&M; Easy on the Eye eye mask R69.99 and novelty coat hanger R99.99, both from Typo; travel mug R59.95 from Clicks; Gold on Gorgeous gift set R120 at Sorbet; Cat selfie stick R99.99 from Mr Price; sunglasses R129 from H&M. Still stuck? Then buy a book, CD or DVD voucher. If all else fails, pop some money into a Christmas gift envelope and gift-wrap their favourite chocolate bar (who doesn’t like chocolate?) to go with it.
Boys
Keygear screw driver set R60 from Cape Union Mart; wooden puzzle man R69.95 at Woolworths; sunglasses R129, H&M; tropical printed board shorts R139.95, Mr Price; tee shirts from R120, Woolworths. Then the same as above: CD, book or DVD voucher, or else cash!
Granny
I always think grandparents are easy to buy for. Slippers, always useful; body cream and shower gel; flowering plant; pretty scarf; boxed chocolates; bar of luxury soap; perfume; bottle of cream sherry; potted herbs.
Grandpa
Same as for granny, slippers; biltong and nuts; bottle of whisky; gardening set; sweets in a jar; favourite CD.
And…… for the grandparents who have everything, a luxury food hamper is a great idea. Buy a big square or round wicker basket and fill it with delicious foods they may not always treat themselves to. Wrap in coloured cellophane and tie with a ribbon. Or the gift which keeps on giving, a magazine subscription, such as Garden and Home, which will have something for them both.
That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
