The Bag Lady

What's The Bag Lady been up to this week - browsing in Hammered Cotton and finding new produce at Woolies.

I saw the first frost last week, on the corner of Comaro and Donington, Glenvista. It is close to a spruit, so the place is very cold, but still, there was frost. Hope you have all your warm clothing ready and winter duvets and linen. According to gardeners in the South, we are in for a very cold winter!

New in Woolworths

Home late from work, in a rush and the thought of having to peel potatoes is enough to send you over the top?Woolworths now has Sweet Potato Chips (880g) at R24.99. The chips are washed and ready to use, as well as ideal for roasting and frying. They also have normal potato chips and potatoes all ready to roast or fry.

Dressing up

Have you popped into Hammered Cotton at Glenvista Shopping Centre, opposite Café Di Aroma? Owned by Kristal Antoun, the store stocks beautiful clothing, including dresses, skirts, trousers, blouses and jerseys. Most of the designers are local and from Cape Town, says Kristal, adding,“I firmly believe in supporting local.” Also stocked is a small range of exclusive children’s wear. Kikki and Franki is designed by a woman from Glenvista. For more information, or if you are looking for something extra special, phone Kristal on 072 190 1438.

Taking time out

A friend of mine visited the Weekend Market, which is open every public holiday, and Saturdays and Sundays, from 9am to 5pm. You’ll find it on the corner of Nasrec and Rifle Range roads, Ridgeway, close to Uncle Charlie’s. Delicious food (which is also Halaal) is available. She said it was good and the food she ate, really great. Apparently over the weekend of May 27 and 28 there’s a Prawn Food Festival taking place at the same venue where there’ll be children’s entertainment, live entertainment, a beer garden, go-karting and a flea market. Entrance is free. For more information on both of the above, phone 082 497 7218.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop!
