Sorry, I just have to say it, there’s not one endearing thing about the winter months! Well, maybe one -boots!
Because I was born in June people here say I should like the cold because I’m a winter baby! Remember friends, I was born in England and only came her when I was 26 years old, so I’m actually a summer baby. Yes, I know England’s summer is like our winter, but just saying.
I’m trying to convince myself that winter only lasts three months tops and spring isn’t that far away but last week Monday and Tuesday I nearly froze. You see the difference between an SA winter and an English winter is over there you can buy really thick clothing and there’s such a thing as central heating. For those of you who don’t know what that is, let me explain. You have radiators on the house walls and gas fires. When the cold months arrive, nine out of 12, you set your radiators to come on during the night, so when you get out of bed on a cold morning, the house is already warm. Yes, in the bathroom too! Then if you’re at work all day you do the same and set your heating to come on during the afternoon. It’s fantastic. Oh, well, no use complaining, and mostly the sun shines.
