The Bag Lady

Find out what The Bag Lady has been up to this past week and what's new on the block!

Last Thursday, May 26, I, as well as the whole of Glenvista and surrounding areas, woke up to no electricity. I can’t believe how it affected my early morning routine and mood, especially as it now only becomes light at about 06:30.

I normally leave for the office not that long after and I couldn’t wash and blow-dry my hair, nor enjoy my first cup of coffee. I always listen to The 947 Breakfast Xpress show, updating me on traffic news and making my morning enjoyable and it was terrible without it. It’s quite disturbing how we depend on electricity for everything and I’ve heard Mulbarton Substation is undergoing an upgrade and we can expect many planned power interruptions in the near future. I’ll be looking into this for sure!

New product

Ceramics are an integral part of the Geberit Group and the Rimfree® toilet is a revolutionary product and design that has completely eliminated the ceramic collar on the inside of the toilet bowl. Together with innovative flushing technology, this makes it ultra-hygienic, easy to clean and eco-friendly. No rim means there’s nowhere for dirt to hide, helping to maintain the appearance of a clean and therefore germ-free toilet. Ideal for households, public bathrooms, learning centres, hospitals and the hospitality industry.

When choosing a toilet, cleaning and pristine hygiene are playing increasingly important roles alongside on-trend design. The range offers soft-close toilet seats, water-saving flushing, rim free and available in a wall-hung or floor-standing toilet option with either rounded or angular shapes.

The benefits of Rimfree®: Flawless hygiene, easy to care for and clean, patented flush distributor, attractive inner bowl design, saves time, water and detergent and protects the environment. You can buy the toilet at Geberit Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd, Lincolnwood Office Park, 6 Woodlands Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg. Bouquets of the Week

Pat Miller from Glenvista gives a big bouquet to Brian of Automedics, Southdale, (011 433 9130). “He has given me outstanding service and, on numerous occasions, would not expect any payment. After working for over seven hours on my Jetta, Brian did an excellent job and delivered my car to me, refusing extra payment for the delivery. He truly went beyond the extra mile. May this gentleman’s business prosper as he deserves for his kindness and integrity.”

*To Lesley-Ann Julius of Post Net The Glen Shopping Centre. “I went to the store last week to have wedding invitations printed and was feeling really ill. Lesley-Ann was an absolute star and said not to worry she will sort out everything for me. She certainly went the extra mile! I’m sure her friendly and professional manner will take her far in her career and once again a huge thanks,” said Tanya Kieck from Bassonia.

*A huge bouquet to New South Veterinary Centre in Glenvista from Tracy Jarman. “A person very cruelly and inhumanely shot a rock rabbit with a BB gun. Fortunately I heard the shots and saw the rock rabbit on the ground, still alive. We got the rock rabbit and took it to the New South Veterinary Centre to have it put to sleep. As it was after hours we should have been charged extra for having the rock rabbit put to sleep. When I went to pay, I was told I did not need to pay anything even though the rock rabbit had to be sedated first then put to sleep. Thumbs up to the New South Veterinary Centre.”

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop!
