Last week as I prepared for another deadline at the office I have to say I was looking forward to this long weekend and of course Women’s Day.
Not that it has really made much difference in my life but it’s nice to think “we” have a special day just for us, to celebrate and embrace however we wish. I hope you were all appreciated for being the “woman” you are.
New at The Glen
Cotton On Kids has opened its doors at The Glen Shopping Centre, upstairs opposite PNA. It offers all the latest in kids clothing at affordable prices from sizes new baby to age 14. The store stocks gorgeous clothing as well as accessories. Definitely a must “go to”.
Blue Ribbon’s toasted sandwich idea
Who says you need a cafe-style press or snackwich machine for the perfect melt-in-your-mouth toasted sandwich? Â The easiest to use toastie makers are already in your kitchen (or outside at the braai).
Pan fried toastie
This is the simplest way to whip up a classic cheese toastie. Butter the bread and place the cheese on the unbuttered side. Cover with remaining slice, buttered side up. Preheat a frying pan and cook the sandwiches for 2 minutes on each side, until golden brown and the cheese has melted. Use another pan or large wooden spoon to press down on the bread as it cooks for even colouring. Cut into triangles and enjoy.
Mall of the South
On track, the new shopping centre coming to the South is Mall of the South. Countdown begins with six weeks to go until the opening on Thursday September 24, Heritage Day.
Bouquet of the Week
Twice in the past week I’ve had reason to stop on my way to the office, at Sasol petrol station in Meyersdal, next to Meyersdal Shopping Centre. Both times I was fortunate to be served by Vincent Khabane, who I can only describe as a breath of fresh air! He is so friendly and gives great service with a huge smile. Thanks so much Vincent for making my day, twice in a week. You are a real asset to Sasol Meyersdal. Keep up the great work.
