August is the windy month, although we’ve already had quite a few gusty days so let’s see what this month will bring. It’s also the month when you can start preparing your garden for spring
Rose care for August
If you have not yet pruned, do so in the first week of August, although if the weather is very cold and frosty leave it until the middle of the month.
If you have pruned already you may be seeing new shoots, Increase watering to twice a week by the end of August. Fertilise with a rose fertiliser at the end of August and look out for aphids at the tips of new growth. They can be washed off with a strong jet of water. I even use the washing-up water after it’s cooled.
Show off with stripes
Yes, new summer lines of clothing are already in-stores and we can look forward to bright stripes this year. Navy and white always looks stylish but other colours can do it too.
For me a blazer in navy and white stripes, paired with a knee length navy dress, white sandals and handbag, oh la la!
Elegant Bride launches in Bassonia
Friday evening July 24 saw the launch of a new bridal shop, Elegant Bride in Bassonia. Invited guests had the chance of seeing the beautiful imported bridal gowns to hire or buy.
