The Bag Lady

What's The Bag Lady been up to this week?

What a week it’s been! Some weeks go by with hardly a hiccup and others, well less said.

Early Christmas gift nightmare

I decided to buy my daughter and her partner a gas heater as an early Christmas pressie and saw that Builders Warehouse had one on special, so off I went. The woman on the enquiry desk advised I take another one than the one advertised and it was R100 cheaper, so I bought that and a gas bottle. I rushed off to my daughter’s all excited to be delivering their gift, unpacked it and attached the gas bottle. Could we switch it on, no and we tried and tried. After an infuriating 15 minutes we gave up and I took it back. I have to say I was a little cross but asked to speak to the manager and he said he’d give me the other heater I first wanted for the same price. I loaded it into my car and went back to my daughter’s. And guess what, the switch wouldn’t work! I was furious.

I took it back the next morning and the woman who is on the heater section explained to me the heaters are made in China and when they arrive here the instructions are translated into English! To cut a long story short two evenings later my daughter and partner had a fire which worked.

What annoys me is why do the suppliers send out faulty goods in the first place? It seems to be happening more and more these days and it’s so frustrating.

New shop at The Glen

I see Baby Boom is moving into The Glen Shopping Centre, top floor, in between Ascot Bedding and The Bed Shop.  Looks like it’s going to be quite a big store too, which is great news for moms and moms to be.

Keep your gut healthy

I enjoy crisp breads and crackers, especially with a slice of blue cheese or ham and avo and now Ryvita comes in a variety of crispbreads. Enjoy Dark Rye, Sesame Rye and Sunflower Seeds to name a few.

These light tasty crispbreads provide between three and four grams of fibre each, making it easy to get to your recommended daily fibre intake and a happy gut as a result. Whether it’s for a staple lunch or a snack on-the-run, Ryvita is a guilt free alternative to our favourite winter comfort foods.

My favourite things this week

Driving to work early Monday morning down Michelle Avenue and catching every single traffic light on green.

Bright blue skies and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets we are fortunate to experience.

Homemade pea and ham soup with crusty bread.

Finding my fingerless gloves which I can wear while I’m using the computer.

That’s it for this week but I have a great “lemon” for next week which you’ll be sure to enjoy.

Shop till you drop!

Julie
