The Bag Lady

Another busy week, March is here, and also a slight drop in early morning temperatures.

Still, beautiful days, so make the most of them and have family and friends over at weekends for lazy lunches, and even if you don’t sit in the garden to eat lunch make sure you do for dessert and coffee.

We’ve also been having some gorgeous sunsets. Take 10 minutes and sit with a drink while watching the sun go down. It’s the small pleasures in life that make it so wonderful and guess what, they are free! We often become so busy in our lives we don’t spend quality time with our loved ones and before we know it, another year has gone by and precious times are gone.

Funny tummy

I see Woolies is offering a gluten free range of bread, cakes and muffins. It seems these days many women and probably men too, suffer from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and many foods don’t help the problem. Worth a try, have a look.

Focus on Local

Remember Moonraker’s on the corner of Michelle Avenue, a new owner took over later last year and she’s made quite a few interesting changes.

Cindy Pertorius, opened Lua A Baker’s Café, on Wednesday March 26, and it was packed! The garden has been left mainly as it was but she’s a few more outside tables and chairs. Don’t worry, the big tree in the middle still remains!

The menu offers some delicious meals. Choose from a Health Breakfast Stack for R55 or a Farmhouse Breakfast for only R25. There are some unusual sandwich combinations; shredded lamb, tomato, red onion and lettuce served with the famous Mrs Ball’s Chutney R60 or sliced pastrami, brie and onion marmalade R60. There’s also home-made pies served with salad and chips.

For the not so hungry pop in for a range of delectable pastries, cakes, croissants, and scones. They also have a small Tots and Tantrums menu for your little one.

Some of the delicious cakes.

Lua A Baker’s Café is licensed and offers  quite an extensive wine menu, as well as cocktails, liquers and shooters. It will make the perfect spot for an early morning business meeting, opening Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 16:00.
